She suffered with a lung disease for more than three years. Yoshiko was the fifth child of seven children born to Heizo Masuda and Kaku Yamaguchi, arriving to share her life on February 10, 1936 in Kashiwa, Chiba-ken, Japan. She met Donald G. Kinzie in the spring of 1959 and they were married February 7, 1961 in Tokyo, Japan. Yoshiko immigrated to the U.S. in May of 1963 when Donald was transferred from Japan to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She worked as a food service technician for 20 years at Loma Linda University Medical Center, in Loma Linda, California.
