Phil left this world peacefully the morning of March 30, 2011 with his wife Lendea at his side.Phil was born in Burbank, CA on April 16, 1966 to Gary and Judie (Lougheed) Sparks.He loved life to the fullest at an early age, he would try just about anything. Phil tried little league softball. He didn't like that (not fast enough) so he went on to Jr All American Football in Orange County, CA for 4 years. He then got interested in water and snow skiing and fishing with his friends and his grandfather Glenn after moving to Lake Havasu City in 1979. After graduating from Lake Havasu High School, he became a sky diver and a boat racer.After trying indoor jobs, Phil decided he needed to work outdoors and did heavy construction, mainly in concrete. He helped to build dams, wastewater and water treatment plants throughout the United States.He married Lendea on October 7, 2006 in Laughlin, NV. They quickly became each others best friend as well as husband and wife. They built a home together in Golden Shores. The backyard was his favorite place to be. He had a green thumb when it came to landscaping. He and Lendea had a special touch for roses. The rose garden was their special place.Phil leaves behind the love of his life, Lendea. He would smile and his eyes would glow when he talked about her. He is also survived by his mother Judie Stellerine and her husband Nate of Lake Havasu City; father in law David Whitmeyer; step daughter Melissa Soto and her husband Ryan of Redondo Beach, CA. Phil's two grandchildern Rachel and Roman Soto; step daughter Natashia Smith of Louisiana and her six children; half brothers Glenn Sparks and his wife Cindy; Brian Sparks and his wife Cathy and Craig Sparks and his wife Pam; step brother Nate Stellerine and his wife Andrea of Lake Havasu city; step sister Donna Keenan and her husband Terry of Georgia as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends in the United States and Canada.Phil is preceded in death by his father Gary Sparks, grandparents Glen & Irene Sparks & Murray & Pat Lougheed.A memorial service will be held Friday April 15, 2011 at 4:00pm at Lietz-Fraze Chapel with Pastor Chris Harper offering words of comfort and inspiration.On Saturday April 16, 2011 there will be a celebration of life at Rotary Park; Ramadas 11 - 12 next to Volleyball court near the playground at 2:00pm.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com Arrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
