Obituary of Joyce SCOTT

Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce Ann ScottAugust 20, 1950 - May 5, 2011Joyce Ann Scott was born in Monrovia, California, on Sunday, August 20, 1950. Joyce lost a two year brave battle with an illness that she fought with unwavering strength, dignity and beauty on May 5, 2011 and will forever be missed by family and friends.Joyce was born to Robert and Helen Jenks, bringing sunshine into the lives of her parents and siblings. She grew up as one of 7 children and attended school in Southern California where she resided until her move to Blythe, California in 1969. During this time Joyce was Assistant Vice President for Colorado River Federal Savings and Loan and Office Manager for John Maltby Chiropractic for many years. Joyce met Chester D. Scott, the love of her life while in Blythe, and they married on June 5, 1982. With Chet she learned to love the 'farm' life on their property, growing peaches, flowers, pomegranates, apples, and much more. Joyce had a great love of the outdoors and this suited her perfectly. She was a creative and artistic person that planned many events on their property especially during the holidays, and those attending always looked forward with great anticipation to see what 'new' thing she had created. Joyce and Chet raised four children in Blythe, being active in all of their school and sports activities. Family was first and foremost in her life, and she cherished each and every one of the children and their activities and successes.Joyce and Chet enjoyed boating on Lake Havasu for many years, and in February, 2003 they purchased their home and moved to Lake Havasu City where they have remained. Her love of the outdoors grew and they enjoyed boating on the lake, taking trips on their 4 wheel vehicles throughout the desert where she especially loved to see the flowers during the spring. They were also able to enjoy traveling to places far and wide, now that the children were grown and on their own. Joyce was an avid fisherwoman, winning the 2nd Annual Lions Bass Tournament with her brother in 2006, and she also hiked the Cupcake Mountain when others younger than her thought it too difficult.Joyce's greatest joy was being with her family and especially her grandchildren whom she cherished. All of them loved coming to visit; she was the perfect 'fun' grandma, taking trips with the family to the beach during the summer and ski trips to the mountains and Colorado in the winter.Joyce is survived by her husband Chester D. Scott, and their four children, Kimberlie Jones of Lake Havasu City; AZ, Stacy Scott of Blythe, CA, William Lansford of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Chester A. Scott of Las Vegas, NV, along with her 10 grandchildren. Joyce has 6 surviving siblings. Priscilla Marincic of Cloverdale, CA, Robert Jenks of Walnut, CA, Phyllis Parkhurst of Newport Beach, CA, Carol Apperson of Oceanside, OR, John Jenks of Manteca, CA and Nancy Gonzales of San Francisco, CA. There are many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and cousins who feel a tremendous loss by her passing. Joyce was a friend to all she met and has many friends touched by her spirit, laughter, and caring ways.Per Joyce's wishes, the family is planning a private Memorial at a later date, yet to be determined. They thank all of those that have been so supportive and caring during this difficult time.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
