Beryl B. PearceApril 22, 1941- May 26, 2011Beryl Pearce, 70, passed away following a short illness. Beryl was the daughter of Dr. Conrad M. Barnes and M. Alice Thrower Barnes. She was born and raised in Seneca, Kansas. She earned her gold award in Girl Scouting. Beryl earned a Masters degree in English from Kansas University at Lawrence. She married Ray Pearce on April 5, 1964. Together they were early residents of Lake Havasu City, arriving here from Kansas City in 1969. Beryl had a variety of careers in Lake Havasu. For many years after arriving she owned and operated Beryl's Books, a full-line general bookstore. She spent some years as a local journalist. At different times she worked for both the Herald and the Today's news. She spent many years as a social worker with DES, and most recently taught English at Telesis. While working these careers she was also the organist for Grace Episcopal Church for numerous years and the organist and musician for St. Michaels Methodist for some years. Beryl was also known for her numerous volunteer and community activities. The Pearces were foster parents when their own children were young. She was a Den Mother for Webelos (Boy Scouts) and volunteered with Girl Scouts as well. Beryl was always highly active in Church life at both Grace Episcopal Church and St. Michaels Methodist. Most recently she volunteered as a tutor with the Literacy Council, and taught some piano in her home. To her family Beryl was known as a loving wife, and wonderful mother. She provided a positive example to her children in all that she did. She loved music and reading. She was generous with those in need, and donated to Samaritans Purse. Beryl was preceded in death by her husband Ray. She is survived by her children, son, Soren Pearce of Lake Havasu City, and daughters Ursula Schuyler (Steve) of Imperial, CA, and Erica McFarland (Mike) of Greenwood IN; granddaughters Jackie Pearce, Samantha Rule and Kathryn, Talia, and Natasha Schuyler, and great granddaughters Danielle Williamson and Fay Laub. She is also survived by 6 nieces and numerous grand nieces and nephews. A memorial service followed by a reception in the fellowship hall will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 30, at St. Michael's United Methodist Church, 2895 South Jamaica Boulevard, Lake Havasu City. Rev.
