Delmar Wade Pablo passed away on Thursday June 2, 2011 in Kingman, AZ with his wife and family by his side. Delmar was born on March 31, 1947 in Phoenix, AZ to Elmer and Rosetta (Padgley) Pablo.
Prior to moving to Peach Springs in 1981, Delmar resided in Sacaton, AZ where he worked as a dispatcher, then a Police Officer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was also active in the Sacaton Community during the 1970's and 1980's coaching co-ed softball, the Bombers Little League, Warriors Mens Hardball and the Authams Girls Softball, traveling to many tournaments and games. He was a physical education instructor at the local school in Sacaton. Upon moving to Peach Springs, Delmar joined the Hualapai Tribal Police Department, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He also served as a Public Defender, Prosecutor and was Chief Judge for the Hualapai Tribe. He loved his work as Public Defender, helping people who requested his expertise in Indian Law in Tribal Courts. Delmar enjoyed being a foster parent to many children, providing them with much needed guidance and support.
In his spare time, Delmar enjoyed making gourds for his son, Logan. He also made gourd lamps with native design.
He enjoyed going to pow-wow's, traditional bird singing and loved doing crossword puzzles. His knowledge and expertise in electronics enabled him to build many things for his sons, as they were the center of his life. He was also affluent in his native Pima language.
Delmar W Pablo was a pillar of the community and well respected. He left many memories with his co-workers and will be missed by all.
Delmar is survived by his wife of 26 years Lenora "Schrum" Pablo of Peach Springs, sons Darren W Pablo and Logan Wellington both of Peach Springs, Mario Pablo of Sacaton, AZ; brother Winfield Pablo of Laveen, AZ; niece Marian Pesqueira of Gilbert, AZ; and many nieces and nephews from Sacaton, AZ. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Lyons and Alita Pablo and brothers Emmett Earling and Dayton Pablo.
Memorial services will be held on Friday June 10, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Hualapai Tribal Gym in the Peach Springs. A traditional wake will follow from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am. Church Services will be held at 9:00 am at the Hualapai Tribal Gym with Edison Manakaja of the Hualapai Church of God officiating and Burial will follow at Valentine Cemetery in Valentine, AZ.
