Frederick (Friedrich) Krenkler, aka Fred or Fritz, passed away on July 2, 2011 at home, due to cancer. He is survived by his wife Verna L. Krenkler (nee Kusmaul) and his daughters Margaret Sue Zimmerman and husband Harry, Jeannette Bell and husband Bob, Evelyn E. Hamilton and husband Clifton, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, the mother of his children, Margaret T. Krenkler (nee Jekay) and his brother William O. Krenkler. Frederick was born February 25, 1924 to Friedrich and Karoline (nee Veit) Krenkler in Hedelfingen, Germany. He attended and received his education in Mechanical Arts at Olney High School and in Mechanical Engineering at Drexel Institute of Technology, both in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the founder and owner of Bekay Mfg. Co., in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, Pennsylvania. He held a Commercial Glider Pilot's license and was a member of the Soaring Society of America and owner of a two place sailplane, along with holding the rating of a commercially licensed soaring pilot. Frederick served his country proudly in WW II European combat with the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Platoon of the 222nd Infantry Regiment, 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division, as a Regimental Interpreter. He was a life member of the Rainbow Division Veterans Memorial Association and also served as President of the 222nd Infantry Chapter of the RDVMA. A life Membership was held by him in the VFW along with a membership in the American Legion. He was a baptized lifelong member of the Lutheran Church which he loved and supported. Since living in Lake Havasu City, it has been Mount Olive Lutheran Church. He is a member of and has many friends in the Olney Trailblazers Social Club of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed by a group of young Lutheran men shortly after WWII. As a sailplane pilot and a Rainbow Division Veteran he has taken his final glide over the rainbow to his home field in Heaven. Fred will be cremated by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2170 Havasupai Blvd. in Lake Havasu City, on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:30 am. Interment will be at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Columbarium with the VFW Post #9401 and the American Legion Post #81 serving as the Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be given to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Rainbow Division Veterans Memorial Foundation, VFW Post #9401, American Legion Post #81 or New Hope Hospice.
