Obituary of Victor JEFFRIES

Victor Jeffries passed away peacefully in the presence of family on September 22, 2011 at the young age of 97 while under the care of the wonderful staff at The Polidori House in Lake Havasu City. He was born to Charles Barton and Lula Irene (Keith) Jeffries on June 21, 1914 in Dugger, IN. Victor was married to the love of his life Mary for almost 66 years when she passed away August 12 last year. Victor served four years in the United States Navy during World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge he rehired on with the General Motors Experimental Division in Flint, MI. In 1962, after 6 months at the Buick proving grounds in Phoenix, he decided he wanted to live in the desert and be near a river so he could play on the water and fish. He found such a place in Lake Havasu City in 1969 after taking advantage of the free flights provided by McCulloch. Victor retired in 1972 after working 30 years for General Motors Buick Experimental Division building new and experimental automobile engines. He made Lake Havasu City his home 38 years ago on January 3, 1973 after moving from Davison, MI. Victor leaves behind his beloved family, son, Jon Victor Jeffries of Lake Havasu City; daughter, Jacquelyn Marie Harnick and her husband Brad of Swartz Creek, MI; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one niece; six nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Victor was preceded in death by his wife Mary; his parents Charles Barton and Lula Irene Jeffries; three brothers, John, Earl and Clyde; two sisters, Oma and Gertrude and one nephew, Jack.
