Following graduation from High School, Calvin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country, receiving his honorable discharge on September 28, 1966.
Calvin became a Civil Engineer and conducted various surveying projects for the Hualapai Tribe.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 46 years, Louise Benson, sons Calvin J. Benson Jr and Merlin Joe Benson, daughters Gayle Benson of Bainbridge Island, WA and Deanna L. Benson; brothers York Benson of St. George, Utah and Scott Benson of Kayenta, AZ; sisters Jolene Turnvall of St. George, Utah, Melanie Benson of Salt Lake City, Utah; Pamela Benson of Salt Lake City, Utah and Oleda Benson of Peach Springs, AZ, grandchildren Shane Benson, Zavier Benson, Shadoww Benson, Kyra Benson, Cordel Benson, Vince C. Querta, Lacey Beecher, Monroe Beecher and Jaeden Fisher and 1 great grandson Tilan-Jay Bender.
Church services will be held on Friday October 28, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Hualapai Tribal Gym followed by the traditional wake at 6:00 PM Burial will follow at Peach Springs Cemetery the following morning at Sunrise.

Calvin Jay Benson Sr passed away on Saturday October 22, 2011 at his residence in Peach Springs at the age of 67. Calvin was born on May 19, 1944 in Cedar City, Utah to Jay and Ruth (Parashonts) Benson.
