Obituary of Gerald A Dockendorf
Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gerald (Jerry) A. Dockendorf, 74, of Kimball, Minnesota and best known to his family and friends as “Doc”, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Watkins, Minnesota, to Alfred and Lorraine. He grew up in South Minneapolis, attending school at Holy Name grade school, De La Salle High School and the University of Minnesota. He proudly served as a member of The National Guard.
As a claims adjuster for Farm Bureau, he moved to a lake home north of Kimball where he could also carry out his love of the outdoors, with interests in boating, hunting with his four legged buddies, golfing, fishing, and softball. It was because of softball that Jerry met his wife Patricia (Heidebrink) and they were married on May 31, 1980. They both loved to travel and enjoyed many trips during their marriage.
When Jerry and Pat retired, they moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona for 6+ months where he continued to enjoy the outdoors taking full advantage of the warmer winter weather. When they returned to Minnesota for the summer, he enjoyed being at the lake again and spending time with his grandsons, especially when the grandsons joined them at the lake.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lorraine Dockendorf and by his first wife Claudia (Beckman). He is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years, Patricia (Heidebrink), daughter Anne (Joel) Wilson, grandsons, Gabe and Liam and brother Lyle (Barb), nephew Kevin and niece Maria, Patricia’s sister Dianne and husband Randy.
Jerry’s Celebration of Life will be held May 22, 2021 in Kimball, Minnesota.
