Joy P. Camarena, age 62, passed away in her sleep on Sunday evening August 22, 2004 at her home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. After a valiant battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, she passed without pain.She was preceded in death by her father, Lonny Holloway and brother Bob Holloway.Joy is survived by her husband, Joe Camarena; mother, Helen Holloway; daughters, Cathi (Steve) Crouch of Huntington Beach, CA, Pati (Dan) Gilbank of Lake Havasu City, Gina Sebastian of Chowchilla, CA and son, Daniel J. Camarena of Phoenix, AZ; aunt, Margaret Liberty of Lake Havasu; grandchildren, Jordan Christian of Huntington Beach, CA and Caysie Gilbank of Lake Havasu City. She is also survived by many extended family members and close friends.Joy was born in Kansas City, MO to Helen and Lonny Holloway. She grew up and spent most of her life in Southern California. Her family moved to Lake Havasu City after she retired from a career as an Ex-POW Liaison for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in La Jolla, CA.She will be remembered for her contributions to the children of Lake Havasu through the co-founding of the Jan F. Kisselburg Memorial Girls Softball League (1977) and Desert Technology High School. She also contributed her time as a volunteer to Desert Technology High School and Girl Scouts (Arizona Cactus Pine and San Gorgino, California Councils).Joy will also be remembered as an avid NASCAR fan (Go Rusty!) and a collector of giraffes.Memorial services will be held this Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 10:00 am at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local Hospice.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
